I grew up in Southern California. When I was in college I joined a company that sold services for legal resources. I was working as a salesman with this company when they filed for bankruptcy and closed their doors. Many of my customers lost their money, and I felt a deep sense of responsibility and remorse because I had sold them the product. I decided then that I would never again be involved with a company unless I had some control over the quality and delivery of the product.
After graduating from college with my Bachelors degree in Business, I moved to Nevada County. I started Gold Country Roofing in 1980 with a friend from Southern California. That was at the beginning of a two year recession. After two years in business my friend moved back to Southern California and left me with a business that was struggling and in debt.
I was determined not to fail and disappoint my customers who had trusted me with their homes and warranties. Through hard work and perseverance I was able to take Gold Country Roofing from struggling to successful. I was a small company, doing most of the work myself and hiring help.
As I grew more successful, I discovered I was unable to meet demand and still provide quality service. I just couldn't do everything myself. In 1999 I decided to quit doing new construction and focus on re-roof customers. This allowed me to take control of my schedule and improve my customer service.
Because of my success I was able to attract some high quality employees. These employees gave me the ability to focus on customer service while they focused on providing quality roofing service. We developed a team relationship, and soon afterward I incorporated and we became an employee owned company.
In the 40+ years that I have been in Nevada County, I have seen the majority of my competition go out of business. Some of the competitors were good businesspeople, and some were great roofers, but they were unable to balance the demand for quality roofing products and great customer service. In the end I feel it was their success that overwhelmed them.

I chose Gold Country Roofing for several reasons. Since I was spending over 100K for two roofs, I did get two other bids. My first step was to call a large roofing contractor in Atlanta to find out what type of roof was the better choice. Of course all manufacturers will tell you their product is the best. I was told by the Atlanta contractor that PVC was superior.
My next step was to contact the Duro-Last sales representative. His feedback was very positive regarding Gold Country Roofing. All the while during the process of getting other bids, I was hoping your bid would be the lowest because I already felt like I could deal with Stan very well and that the installation would be done professionally. Well, I was right. Stan's crew was very professional, started and finished when Stan said they would and communication was excellent.

We were very happy with Gold Country Roofing. Stan and his crew were total pros throughout the whole process. We got multiple bids and of all the roofers we met with, we were impressed with the attention to detail and thoroughness of the bid, their references, and their insurance documents, not to mention how competitive their bid was. We were booked to have our roof installed later in the year, but this last storm revealed that our current roof was leaking. Stan was able to shuffle some things around and get our new roof installed ASAP.
The whole process was great, from the bid, to the office staff, to the crew that installed the roof. They left our yard looking nicer than when they got there and the new roof looks great.

Once we made our decision, he gave us a thorough explanation of the work to be completed and then followed up with a folder with information about the products and services to be used in our project along with a very detailed contract with the costs stated very clearly.

"When we needed our roof replaced, we got 5 estimates. Gold Country Roofing was not only the most reasonable, but the presentation that Stan provided was thorough and professional. Total time to complete the job was 4 days. Rains came back that night and everything worked as expected.
We also had new gutters all around the house and had 3 Velux light tubes installed.

Their work was outstanding and the roof looks great. We are very pleased with our new roof. The shingles and color are beautiful. The roof vents have made the house cooler, a real plus. From the quote to the finished product we are more than satisfied. After getting three other roofing estimates, I knew I had found the right person for the job and was excited for his crew to begin. We love our roof! We needed a total redo (tear off, some new plywood, gutters, leaf guards). We also added 2 curb mounted skylights and a tunnel skylight. The whole process was efficient and the work was done as stated. They even painted the roof vents to match our roof. Stan responded to our call for help and provided us with a tarp when the roof started leaking during a severe rain, before the roof project was started.

It was such a relief to have Stan in our court! We purchased a 30 year old home with its original roof, barely intact. Now we have a beautiful new roof with rain gutters and downspouts where there were none! All exactly as we had ordered. The roofing crew is very hard working and competent. It took 5 days to complete the job and they often worked beyond 8 hours. In spite of lots of pounding, the crew was easy to have around, cleaned up very well every day. The finished product is excellent, the gutter covers the best I've seen and I shopped carefully for this quality. This was the second to lowest bid of four I received and the quality of products installed and workmanship are outstanding.

Our last couple of days have been quite warm. We find that our air conditioning load is significantly reduced because of our light colored roof [Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingles in Shasta White].
We also find that on days when we previously would have used air conditioning, there was no need due to a cooler house. Removed old roof, repair of dry rot, installed new lifetime roof, two solar tubes, new gutters and downspouts. Did everything I asked and more. Stan was very cooperative and coordinated scheduling with some other work I was having done. Carlos and the crew were very good and hard working. I actually enjoyed the time they were there. They were very receptive to coming back to do some minor tweaking to the gutter guards they also installed.

Agreed and the crew arrived on time and I watched, the entire day. Professional and courteous. After the job one worker walked around our house picking up pieces of construction debris around the home, tiny pieces no one would have seen.
They cleaned our decks and driveway. Had a tiny roof extension off a bay window. The worker worked for a while and made a masterpiece! The roof jacks, old metal galvanized shiny metal, were painted the same color as the roof. Our home is a masterpiece. Please give them a shot, they are so worth it.

They were great. The estimate process was a little confusing, since they had a base price, and then other "add-ons" for things that didn't seem optional. But a call to the office cleared it all up. They came when they said they would, and finished ahead of schedule. And were able to install fascia and shingles on a forgotten bay window without impacting the schedule. I highly recommend these guys!

Jerry's problem was that a company installed a high profile gutter cover over his gutters. Not only was the gutter cover able to keep the leaves out of the gutter, but it was also keeping out most of the rain water! The gutter cover was installed without positive drainage to the outside of the gutter and virtually created a dam.
This caused rain water to leak in behind the gutter and damage the overhangs. We were able to solve the problem by removing the old gutter cover and installing a Leaf Solution gutter protector. This low profile leaf system virtually keeps out all the leaves, dust and dirt while letting the rain water in. This system comes with a manufacturer's lifetime warranty. So, no more worries Jerry!

My neighbor had his roof replaced 1.5 years ago and was really happy with the work Gold Country Roofing did so when it was time this spring for ours to be replaced, I knew I had to give them a call. Ben, the estimator, showed up on time and was very personable. He spent a lot of time on the roof checking everything out. When it came time to make a decision on which roofer to use, Gold Country was the no brainer choice.
Their bid was competitive, they're recognize by both Nevada and Placer county as high quality roofers, and Ben and Shannon were easy to work with. Couldn't have been happier with the crew that came out. They were professional and went above and beyond to make sure that everything was done right. First off, I was unable to get any other roofing business to come out and give me an estimate for getting a completely new roof. One local Grass Valley company that will remain anonymous set an actual appointment and then did not show up. From the very first phone call to Gold Country Roofing, I had immediate results. Ben arrived and walked on roof and answered all questions and pointed out a few things that needed to be addressed. he was very polite well mannered, helpful and knowledgeable.
I was impressed. Ben left us with a stack of options and information and his personal number if we had any questions. Within a few days we received a price which included more work than we had planned on as we got new gutters as well and we knew there were repairs to be done to our badly leaking roof. The price was much less than we expected for all the work that needed to be done.
We also had a skylight installed that I was concerned about as they are notorious for leaking. The roofing crew were polite, well mannered, fast working and efficient and cleaned up the entire sight each day. They actually painted our ugly roof vents which I had been nagging my husband to do for years, that was truly an unexpected, pleasant surprise. Topped off with easy financing, I couldn't be more thrilled. The final recommendation was that the skylight was installed at 3:30 pm and it began to rain heavily at 5:30 pm. and has continued to rain for 5 more days NO LEAKS ANYWHERE!

From the very start, Gold Country Roofing has been amazing. They're extremely courteous, detailed, punctual, and honest. Their rep, Ben, took the time to explain things, sometimes more than twice and went though every detail. The design recommendations were on point as we were changing the color of the roof. My roof is gorgeous! Who knew gutters could be beautiful?!
We had 7 different roof companies come out and Gold Country outshined the rest by far. Their team was quick, efficient, courteous and cleaned up daily. Their warranty can not be beat. They paid attention to what was important to us as clients and treated us so well; we could not recommend them more!

Gold Country Roofing is the best! They were so nice and easy to work with. I wanted help picking out the best color for the roof and it is the perfect choice. Then, when they came out, there was a tree overhanging that had to be cut back, and additional vegetation too. They removed just what was needed. They replaced the whole roof and installed gutters.
What a beautiful job. It's a joy to see my lovely roof when I come home. And the work was completed quickly, as was the removal of the excess building materials and vegetation. A neighbor had recommended Gold Country Roofing to us so we asked for a quote to replace our roof and gutter system. We also asked two other local roofing companies. We had the work done in August of 2020.

They showed on time with a crew that was well organized and efficient. My roof needed some repairs due to dry rot and they did a great job fixing those issues. They left my yard and driveway cleaner than it was when they arrived. The roof looks great, the gutters look great and included a leaf guard. They had the best price amongst 3 bids and theirs was the only bid with leaf guards on the gutters. The whole process was easy to handle from start to finish.

We have a very large and steep roof, such that some roofers would not take this on. Gold Country was very professional and skilled and have access to a large crew which enabled them to complete the whole house and garage in less than 8 eight working days. We just had a new roof installed by Gold Country Roofing. We chose this business because we watched our next door neighbor's roof go on by the same company. These guys are amazing! In two days, we had a new roof! One day to remove the old one, one day to install the new one. The whole crew were friendly, considerate and clean. Before they left the first day, the yard and driveway was cleaned up and free of nails/debris. Same the second day. No messes anywhere. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat. It's hard to overstate how good this company is. I saw them doing my neighbor's roof and knew I'd be needing a roof soon, so they were one of four companies I had to come and giive an estimate. Their presentation was best and their price the lowest. But that was nothing compared to the diligence and energy of the workers; they swarmed like bees over the roof, covered undone areas when confronted with an unexpected rain storm, and returned to finish on a Sunday (after asking me if that was OK!)
